Black Ox Orkestar at Union Pool
Dec. 16-17. 7PM. $24.21

The band called Black Ox Orkestar formed in the early aughts out of Montreal’s post-punk scene. But they drew on jazz, Balkan, and especially klezmer music, singing mostly in Yiddish and making a kind of contemporary Jewish folk music. They released two albums and then went on hiatus, since the members were active in other bands. That was 15 years ago. Now, armed with a new album – appropriately called Everything Returns – Black Ox Orkestar is performing its first live sets in a decade and a half.  The newly re-formed band Black Ox Orkestar plays Dec. 16-17 at Union Pool.
