Brian Merchant, senior editor of Motherboard, VICE's science and technology outlet, and the founder/editor of Terraform, joins us to discuss his book The One Device: The Secret History of the iPhone. Merchant examines how the iPhone transformed the world, and turned Apple into the most valuable company ever. His investigation takes him from 19th century France to post-war America, to a pit of toxic e-waste in Kenya, and inside Shenzhen's notorious "suicide factories" where iPhones are assembled.
