Brooklyn Raga Massive is a constellation of musicians that grew out of a shared interest in Indian classical music. But since forming in 2015, they’ve grown to encompass musicians from many different styles. They have a piece, based on the Indian raga Bihag and Terry Riley's In C, which includes the mandolinist Andy Statman, who is more commonly heard playing bluegrass and Jewish klezmer music. In fact, on Sunday evening, June 6, Andy Statman leads a mixed quartet of musicians from Brooklyn Raga Massive in two live sets at Jalopy Theatre.
