Can MTA Buses Have a Comeback?

MTA bus driver Tyra Strawder, who's been on the job over 20 years, says that passengers with wheelchairs and infants need to be served too, even if getting them on and off the bus causes delays.

Laura Bliss, staff writer at The Atlantic's CityLab, and John Surico, who covers New York City transit and infrastructure, discuss our outdated bus system and what can be done to fix it. Laura Bliss' recent article is “Love the Bus, Save Your City” and John Surico's story about the new NYC Transit Bus Plan is “How Riders Won the Fight for Better Buses in New York City.”

Listeners, have you noticed changes on your bus that have improved service, or made it worse? If you use other modes of transit, what would it take for you to choose the bus instead? If you are a bus driver, what do you think would most improve service? Leave a comment here or tweet us @WNYCMidday.
