The French group Caravan Palace is one of the leaders in the style known as electro-swing, which combines the sounds you might’ve heard in a European jazz club in the 1930s with the sounds of modern pop and dance music. Caravan Palace actually began as a trio and their first project was the soundtrack to an otherwise silent adult film, but they quickly grew into a full-size band that includes horns as well as electronics, and usually a dancer as well. Their most recent album is called Gangbusters Melody Club, and they bring their mix of old jazz and modern pop to Brooklyn Steel on April 11.
