Carlos Henriquez at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room, Nov. 16 and Nov. 17
Tickets: $45-$65. Shows at 7 and 9:30 pm both dates.

Bass player Carlos Henriquez grew up in the South Bronx studying classical guitar, but he switched to the double bass and since then has become one of New York’s go-to guys for Latin jazz, orchestral jazz, and especially, Latin orchestral jazz. His arrangements on the recent album by Ruben Blades and the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra were remarkable, but he also plays in smaller groups too. Tonight and tomorrow, Carlos Henriquez presents a musical retrospective of the South Bronx’s social history, ten original new works, 'The South Bronx Story' at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room.
