Caroline Rose’s new album, The Art of Forgetting, is also a film (parts of which have been released as videos for the early singles from the record). It follows Rose as they deal with the aftermath of a breakup. It’s more personal and possibly even more therapeutic than their earlier songs – one title, “Jill Says,” refers to Rose’s actual therapist – but if the story is intimate, the arrangements often go big. This title, “Everywhere I Go I Bring The Rain,” sounds like it should be a mopey ballad, but instead Rose spins a sonic yarn that goes through several different sections, with a chorus that seems to get more intense and yet more euphoric each time. Caroline Rose plays April 12 at Webster Hall.
