The ongoing territorial dispute in Spain escalated today. The Catalan Parliament declared independence, triggering a move by Spain to seize control of the region. 

For the latest on what's happened today, The Takeaway turns to Sebastiaan Faber, a professor of Hispanic studies at Oberlin College who writes about Spain for The Nation. His  upcoming book is entitled “Memory Battles of the Spanish Civil War.”
