The Brazilian singer and songwriter Céu actually began her career here in New York, back in 2005. Last year, Céu moved from Brazil to California, and began recording her new album, Novela, with the L.A. producer Adrian Younge. This track, called “Gerando Na Alta,” also features the French-Senegalese singer anaiis. The song has a languorous, tropical beat, and Younge’s trademark string sounds, as the two singers, Céu and anaiis, trade lines about women reaching for the heights of creativity. Céu plays May 15 at Le Poisson Rouge.
