The Changing Meaning of Gender Across Generations

WNYC News | Jun 25, 2019

We may take it for granted that young, LGBTQ people know the stories of the activists who came before them. But dialogue across generations rarely happens.

Radio Rookie Kristin Tomlinson, who identifies as genderfluid, explores the changing constructs of gender over the last 50 years — from language to labels to modes of expression. She takes us on a journey from butch femme to non-binary, from cut-and-dry to a gender spectrum.

Listen to the full episode of the podcast The Stakes on gender fluidity from Tomlinson here.

Radio Rookies is supported in part by the Margaret Neubart Foundation and The Pinkerton Foundation.
