Sax player Chris Potter has been a moving force on the American jazz scene for the past two decades. He’s a musical shapeshifter, capable of trading riffs with the Mingus Big Band, or soloing with Steely Dan, or playing Indian-inspired music with tabla master Zakir Hussain. His Currents Trio incorporates electronics and rides on a strong sense of groove, and that’s the group he’s working with tonight. Chris Potter and his Currents trio perform Wed., Jan. 1-Sun.
