The exact date of this episode is unknown. We've filled in the date above with a placeholder. What we actually have on record is: 1968-uu-uu.

Tony Schwartz revisits a 1968 conversation with the media theorist Marshall McLuhan, who discusses the development and future of cities, and how innovations in transportation and electronic communication mark the arrival of a "global village" and the demise of the urban environment. As McLuhan says, "There's no need for cities anymore. Under these conditions of travel and communication, the very existence of a congested metropolitan area is meaningless!"
