The City's Ongoing — and Worsening — Homelessness Crisis
The Brian Lehrer Show | Mar 28, 2019
Despite more money for programs for homeless services in the city, there are more people living in shelters and for longer than there were five years ago. Mirela Iverac, WNYC reporter who covers poverty and homelessness, looks at the ongoing homelessness crisis, what the city is doing and why nothing seems to be working.
"Despite all the programs that the administration has put in place, the rental subsidies, people are staying in shelters longer and we have more people in shelters, this doubling of the homeless services budget hasn’t really helped," says @mirelaiverac.
