The band Club D’Elf describes itself as “an ever-shifting collective of musicians fiercely dedicated to ‘the groove’.” Over the course of the past two decades they’ve drawn on trip-hop, psychedelic rock, and jazz improvisation, with a heavy dose of Moroccan trance music. The musicians come from Boston and New York, and despite all the shifting, a couple of things have remained steady in Club D’Elf’s career – the presence of bassist Mike Rivard and drummer Dean Johnston, and the other is the band’s commitment to live music-making. Even their records, like this track called “Bass Beatbox,” are of live performances. Club D’Elf plays Feb. 15 at The Cutting Room.
