This year’s annual Coltrane Festival at Smalls started well with John’s son Ravi Coltrane in the week before Christmas. Now the festival heads into the final week with not one, but two leading tenor sax players in NY, the jazz and gospel musician Jimmy Greene and the bandleader Wayne Escoffery. Escoffery and Jimmy Greene lead a quintet on Jan. 2-5 at SMOKE, as part of the annual Coltrane Festival.
