Contemporaneous presents GENEALOGY at Roulette
Aug. 27. 8PM. Free

Composer Eve Beglarian was asked to write a piece to celebrate the turn of the millennium back in 2000. Instead, she took inspiration from a poem by Mark Strand about celebrating the ordinary days rather than big special events, and wrote this piece called “The Continuous Life.” It’s for speaker, pre-recorded sounds of everyday life, and ensemble – here a group of guitars, but tomorrow evening, a chamber orchestra, with New York Public Radio’s Terrance McKnight reading the poem. The group Contemporaneous plays work by Eve Beglarian at Roulette, on Sat., Aug. 27, along with four world premieres. New York Public Radio's Terrance McKnight narrates two of them.
