Debashish Bhattacharya Trio at Joe's Pub

Debashish Bhattacharya Trio at Joe's Pub
Oct. 24 7PM. $30.

Debashish Bhattacharya plays the guitar. At least, HE says it’s a guitar, and if you look closely you can see that originally, it probably was a guitar. Now, though, it’s an exotic blend of wood and strings – lots of strings – and it's played like a lap steel guitar so that Bhattacharya can access all the notes of the Indian raga tradition. But he doesn’t just play Indian music – Bhattacharya has also collaborated with John McLaughlin, Derek Trucks, and American roots musicians like Jerry Douglas. Debashish Bhattacharya brings his trio to Joe’s Pub on Oct. 24.
