Dither Quartet Presents: Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint at Public Records

The hugely influential composer Steve Reich wrote his piece Electric Counterpoint for guitarist Pat Metheny. The idea was to have Metheny record twelve of the thirteen parts and then play the last part live. It was also possible for a group of 13 guitarists to perform the piece, though that’s a daunting proposition and even Reich wasn’t sure it was a good idea. Then in 2015, the Dither Quartet, and friends performed at one of our New Sounds Live concerts, and Reich was convinced. Dither and Friends play Reich and lots more on Jan. 24 at Public Records.
