Does The Wrong Sperm Mean 'Wrongful Birth'?

The Brian Lehrer Show | Oct 3, 2014

An Ohio mother is suing a sperm bank because it sent her sperm from an African-American donor. She and her partner now have a mixed race baby, and she says she's worried her daughter won't be accepted in her mostly white town. Rene Almeling, assistant professor of sociology at Yale University and author of Sex Cells: The Medical Market for Eggs and Sperm (University of California Press; 2011), talks about the issues the case raises, from a "wrongful birth" claim to sperm bank responsibility, and more.
