Dom Salvador Sextet at Central Park Summerstage
Sat., Sept. 4. Free.
Film Screening - 5:30 PM,  Live Performance: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

The Brazilian pianist Dom Salvador has played at NY’s River Café for four decades, so he’s not exactly unknown here. But Dom Salvador often called the “godfather of Brazilian soul,” helped create Bossa Nova before fleeing Brazil at the height of its military dictatorship in the early 70s – and that story is not widely known. On Saturday, Sept. 4, Central Park Summerstage gives the US premiere of a documentary that tells Dom Salvador’s story, and the pianist will bring his Samba Jazz Sextet to play a free concert along with the new film.
