Don't Forget: You're Voting on Delegates in the Primary Too

The Brian Lehrer Show | Apr 18, 2016

It's been all about the candidates, but don't be surprised to see many more names on your ballot tomorrow.

New Yorkers will head to the polls to vote in the New York primary, choosing both candidates and New York delegates to send to the July convention.

Ben Max, executive editor of Gotham Gazette, explains what to expect on the primary ballot.

Click here if you want to take a look at a sample ballot for tomorrow's NY primary.

And Bill Mahoney, POLITICO New York Albany-based reporter, goes region-by-region on both parties candidates' primary prospects and how the voting translates into delegates.

Mahoney said it's actually not a good idea to vote for ALL of the delegates for your candidate, because it's the same as voting for none of them. Start listening around 6:00 to hear an explanation of how to vote strategically for the delegates.

And around 7:00 in, Mahoney clarifies that each district has a different number of delegates you can vote for, and despite the fact your ballot might say "Vote for 7 delegates," it really means "Vote for UP TO 7 delegates."
