Dos Santos – "A Shot In The Dark" (Weekly Music Roundup)

Dos Santos may be from Chicago, but their new single, “A Shot In The Dark,” features the sounds of central Mexican huapango music. Lead singer Alex Chavez uses a falsetto that incorporates the traditional crying, or breaking, sound in the voice.  Meanwhile, the voices behind him pile up into what sounds like a folkloric-style chorus. Hand drums and a slinky guitar part from Dos Santos complete the languorous, tropical feel, but there may be a hint of psychedelia in there too.
