E. Power Biggs

The Douglas P. Cooper Distinguished Contemporaries Collection | Dec 31, 2015

Douglas Cooper interviews great concert organist E. Power Biggs at his home in Cambridge, MA. Biggs discusses the national character of organs and the close connections between organs and the music written for them. There are organs in Europe dating back to 1390 that can still be played today, including those that Bach and Mozart played during their lifetimes. Biggs recalls his experience in East Germany playing the organ in Bach's church.

The interview is continued in Part 2.
