It’s the end of No Child Left Behind, and the start of a new nation-wide education law which shifts decision-making back to the states.

David Kirp, professor of public policy at the University of California-Berkeley and the author of Improbable Scholars: The Rebirth of a Great American School System and a Strategy for America's Schools (Oxford University Press, 2013), talks about this latest development in school reform, and whether it might help to finally close the achievement gap that No Child Left Behind left open.
