WNYC News | Feb 2, 2021

Overall, charter school enrollment in New York City grew by about 10,000 students this school year. The increase was especially high for white and Asian students, and for English Language Learners. Enrollment in charters has been trending upward for a while, and it increased by 10,000 students last year as well. Meanwhile, enrollment in city-run schools has been decreasing in recent years, although the decline this fall was steeper, with 43 thousand fewer students.
