Perhaps the best way to celebrate the summer solstice today is outside, watching the sun rise, or set, on this longest day of the year. So the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is presenting two live performances of Canto Ostinato, a mesmerizing work by the late Dutch composer Simeon Ten Holt, in a brand new arrangement for 50 musicians. The sunrise performance is an intimate affair, for Sandbox Percussion and Erik Hall at 5AM. In the sunset show at 7:30PM, Erik Hall joins the Metropolis Ensemble and Sandbox Percussion for the performance at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
