Exonerated And Still Facing Deportation

The Takeaway | Feb 6, 2017

In October, after 27 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit, Jules Letemps was exonerated. Expecting freedom and a reunion with his family, Jules was shocked when he was transferred from prison to an immigrant detention facility in Glades County, Florida.

Now, Jules is facing deportation to Haiti, a country he hasn't set foot in since the age of 17. His story is the subject of this week's Case in Point from The Marshall Project. Christie Thompson is a writer for The Marshall Project, she explains the case and what's next for Jules.

Christie's full article can be read at The Marshall Project.
