Facebook Money and School Reform in Newark
Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg donated $100 million dollars to Newark schools in 2010. So where did it all go?
Dale Russakoff, journalist and author of The Prize: Who's In Charge of America's Schools? (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2015), traces how the money was spent, the problems Mayor Booker and Governor Christie ran into, whether any students were helped along the way and what the whole saga says about the future of educational reform in America.
→ Event: Dale Russakoff will be participating in a panel discussion about Newark’s schools on Monday, September 28th, hosted by WNYC’s Jami Floyd. Other guests include Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and new schools superintendent Chris Cerf. Tickets are free - click here for more information.
