The artist known as Fantastic Negrito has become known for his Grammy-winning albums of stomping blues-rock. But this singer who calls what he does “Black roots music for everyone” really can get rootsy at times, using acoustic guitars and piano, which leave room for Negrito’s vocals to explore subtler territory. His song, “Trudoo,” is a good example: originally a funk track from his 2022 album White Jesus Black Problems, it’s now a bouncy shuffle with some tasty slide guitar playing. Fantastic Negrito plays on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Sony Hall.
