Fatoumata Diawara - "Nsera" (Weekly Music Roundup)

The Malian singer and songwriter Fatoumata Diawara has been a regular collaborator with global stars like John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca, and Damon Albarn of the bands Blur and Gorillaz. Now she’s released a new single called “Nsera,” or “destination,” which she co-wrote with Albarn.  The song is a dancey anthem that celebrates the diversity of cultures in West Africa – a diversity that has produced conflict but which Diawara sees as a source of strength.
