As Fireworks Complaints Explode, One Community Debates Best Response

Fireworks have been lighting up the skies in recent weeks, and also irritating many New Yorkers. The noise is triggering a deluge of complaints. The NYPD says they received nearly 13-thousand 911 calls during the first three weeks of June alone. 

Pastor Gil Monrose is an anti-violence activist in Brooklyn's Flatbush neighborhood. He says his community has been grappling with how to take care of the problem themselves. He spoke with WNYC's Kerry Nolan.
