One of the first big music events of the year here in New York is globalFEST, a evening-long marathon celebrating music from around the world. This year’s lineup includes musicians from Congo, Cuba, Venezuela, Ghana, Morocco, Korea, and Portugal, and takes place on Sunday at Webster Hall.  

globalFEST 2017 also includes Alsarah, the Sudanese singer based in Brooklyn, & her band The Nubatones, who play an infectious blend of East African folk and Western pop, like "Habibi Taal":
