Latin jazz has always been about verve and energy. So much the better, then, when it’s delivered by young students of the form. Today at noon, a giant ensemble of young musicians called The Fat Afro Latin Jazz Cats will be bringing the swing to Metro Tech Commons in Brooklyn. The group is conducted by the great bandleader Arturo O’Farrill, and plays classics from the big band Latin jazz catalog. Catch The Fat Afro Latin Jazz Cats today at noon, or at their regular Sunday rehearsals at Fat Cat in the West Village, from which the band takes its name.
