EVENT: Hopper's Wife, New York City Opera at Harlem Stage

The New York City Opera was called “the people’s opera” by Mayor LaGuardia – so it was a major loss when the company filed for bankruptcy in 2013. But it’s back, with much fanfare – and a surreal new show set around a fantasy marriage between the so-called ashcan painter Edward Hopper… and the famed gossip columnist Hedda Hopper. Called "Hopper’s Wife," the show’s jazzy sound includes a song about cocktails. And the music itself gets...well, drunk.
