Gig Alert: Kahli Abdu & VHS Safari

Music Hub | Feb 23, 2015

ARTIST: Kahli Abdu & VHS Safari

GIG: Monday night at Brooklyn Bowl

It’s hip hop meets indie rock meets afro-pop in the music of Khali Abdu and VHS Safari. Abdu is a Nigerian artist who sings and raps, channeling Fela Kuti, Nas, and Bob Marley in equal measure. And the Brooklyn duo known as VHS Safari provides an effervescent bed of beats and rhythms for Abdu’s socially conscious lyricism. Here’s the undeniably catchy “Forever and Ever” off their debut record, A.R.T. Project.

Khali Abdu and VHS Safari is playing at the Brooklyn Bowl tonight.
