Melanie De Biasio, "No Deal"

GIG: Doors at 7:30 p.m., show at 8 p.m. at Rockwood Music Hall - for tickets RSVP to Erik Andersen at erik@missingpiecegroup.com

Compared to a Belgian Billie Holiday, songstress Melanie De Biasio possesses the quiet soul jazz requires. Trained at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, she calls her sound "evolutive pop." It blends a jazz foundation with new innovative textures -- yet it's incredibly minimalistic. Her sound is like a single stationary light with mist creeping around it, highlighting different shapes but still remaining in the shadows. Hear her unique take on cellar jazz tonight at Rockwood Music Hall.
