Gig Alert: Sharon Jones' Final Recording (Weekly Roundup)

Brooklyn’s favorite soul and funk singer, the late Sharon Jones, became a global phenomenon late in life. Her work with her band The Dap Kings and her struggle with cancer were documented in the film Miss Sharon Jones, and although Jones lost that battle with cancer last year, she did find time to record one final album.  It’s called Soul Of A Woman, and while it’s not out until November 17, the single has just been released. It’s called "Matter of Time."

This determinedly optimistic song from the relentlessly funky singer, the late Sharon Jones, comes from what will be her final album, and is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
