In New York, there are few topics that evoke more verbal fireworks, more passion and excitement, than…the subway. But of course it’s not just commute frustration; the underground is filled with characters, sounds and – dare we say it, smells – that are the stuff of art. Jazz saxophonist Roy Nathanson once made a whole record out of subway observations, and he's now made an annual program out of teaching public school students how to channel their subway stories into song. Sunday at Littlefield, it’s the latest installment of "Subway Moon," featuring The Jazz Passengers and guitarist Marc Ribot.
