Gig Alert: Tengger Cavalry at Saint Vitus

The band called Tengger Cavalry, like so many bands these days, is based here in New York. But they’re originally from Mongolia, and they use a combination of traditional Mongolian instruments and overtone singing with more conventional Western guitars, drums, and vocals. Tengger Cavalry is a folk metal band, but this particular track, "Echo of the Grassland," is a lot more folk than metal. To hear their full-on plugged in folk metal assault, you’ll have to wait until tonight at St. Vitus.
