Gig Alert: Tribute to Pauline Oliveros, New Sounds Live at Brookfield Place
Tickets: FREE. Show at 7:30PM
The composer Pauline Oliveros was a trailblazer in tape and electronic music in the 60s. She was a pioneer in alternative tunings and in what she called "Sonic Meditations" in the 1980s. When she died last year, she left behind a huge number of works that are all about experiencing sound - in a really deep way. Many of them fill the space with slowly unfolding electro-acoustic sounds. Just check out the record, Deep Listening.
WNYC’s New Sounds Live presents a free Pauline Oliveros tribute concert this evening at Brookfield Place, in the Winter Garden atrium – the type of reverberant space her music sounds best in.Â
