The Gorgeous, Unlikely Music of Colleen

Spinning on Air | Jun 26, 2015

Composer Cécile Schott, who calls her musical project Colleen, creates modern French vocal chamber music influenced by Jamaican Dub, played on an electric Renaissance viola da gamba. These seemingly contradictory elements come together very naturally and beautifully in Colleen's new album "Captain of None." It's her sixth album, and it continues the compelling musical evolution of this resourceful, original composer. David Garland welcomes Cécile back to the WNYC studio (she first visited Spinning On Air in 2005), to perform and talk about her recent music.
