Governor Cuomo Floats A Return To Indoor Dining In New York City
Governor Cuomo is considering allowing New York City to reopen some indoor dining, since COVID-19 positivity rates have been slowly declining.
In a reversal from Monday, the governor now says declining case numbers and the state's $15 billion budget hole could put indoor dining back on the menu. But City University of New York epidemiologist Denis Nash thinks it's too soon, especially since the vaccine effort is stalling due to low supplies amid growing concern over the new coronavirus variants.
"No doubt we could use the tax revenue, but we could also use fewer deaths and hospitalizations, so I don't understand the calculus," Nash said.
Cuomo said he will announce a plan to reopen New York City restaurants at 25 percent capacity on Friday.
