Who cares that Handel’s Messiah was supposed to be an Easter piece? It’s become a Christmas tradition, and here in New York, the undisputed king of the Messiah is Kent Tritle. He just played the organ in the NY Philharmonic’s annual performances of the piece this past weekend, and now he’s conducting two different performances of the Messiah – one by The Oratorio Society of NY and the other by Musica Sacra.

Kent Tritle leads the Oratorio Society of NY in a performance of Handel's Messiah tonight at Carnegie Hall. And if you’re waiting for the return of the Messiah, well, that happens tomorrow night, also at Carnegie Hall, when Kent Tritle performs the piece with Musica Sacra.
