Here's the Winning 'I Voted' Sticker Design

WNYC News | May 11, 2017

New Yorkers have spoken: The winner of the "I Voted" sticker contest is a design inspired by the MTA subway map submitted by Marie Dagata and Scott Heinz of Bronxville.

"What I thought of immediately was having all the names of the boroughs included on the sticker," Dagata said. "And the subway is key to people who live here [and] it brings together the people of the boroughs from all over New York City."

Voters picked their favorite out of 10 finalists and the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) announced the victor Thursday. The CFB received more than 700 submissions in April and wrote on their site that "nearly 10,000 'ballots' were cast via phones, computers or tablets."

People were asked to rank their top picks in order of preference — and while the Statue of Liberty was prominent in most of the designs, a subway-inspired sticker took home the prize.

The CFB launched its first sticker contest in 2013 and the winner was then 10-year-old Zoe Markman with a design featuring the Statue of Liberty and "I Voted" in red, white and blue. The sticker will make its debut at the mayoral primary Sept. 12.
