The idea that country music is an exclusively “white genre” is one that’s been stubbornly hanging on for a long time. And it’s one that Diane Pecknold -- editor of a new anthology called Hidden in the Mix: The African American Presence in Country Music -- would disagree with. 

Pecknold discusses the anthology and the obscurity of African American presence in country music from such seminal artists as Louis Armstrong to Darius Rucker.
