During this moment of reckoning with systemic racism, some are realizing for the first time the harm that a “colorblind” mindset can cause. A new book argues that Hollywood films, from "Dirty Harry" to "Rocky," have helped perpetuate colorblind ideology among white Americans for decades. Justin Gomer, assistant professor of American studies at California State University, Long Beach, joins us to discuss his book White Balance: How Hollywood Shaped Colorblind Ideology and Undermined Civil Rights.
