For a decade now, the NY band known as Hot Sardines has been playing classic jazz and mid-century pop songs. On the one hand, they play with an authenticity that evokes the nightclubs of a bygone era, but on the other hand, they are a 21^st century group so they also try to have some fun with these old songs. During the pandemic, the group’s lead singer, Elizabeth Bougerol, began looking at the music of her native France, and together with bandleader Evan Palazzo put together a collection of bilingual songs called C’Est La Vie. The Hot Sardines play on May 30-31 at Joe’s Pub.
