How Economics Can Be A Force For Good

The Leonard Lopate Show | Oct 30, 2017

Nobel Prize-winning economist Jean Tirole joins us to discuss his book Economics for the Common Good. Tirole, who won the Nobel Prize in 2014, argues that economists can use their knowledge and skills to become a positive force for change. He encourages economists to look beyond the journals where they usually send their papers, and engage in public discourse. Tirole demonstrates this by tackling issues like climate change, the euro crisis and the digital revolution.

Jean Tirole will appear at the Albertine (972 Fifth Ave., at 79th Street) on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
