How Will Europe Respond to the Migration Crisis?

The Leonard Lopate Show | Sep 10, 2015

When a country goes through war, revolution, or civil unrest, communities can be destroyed and there is often a crisis of displacement and migration. The current migration crisis in Europe is being called the largest we have seen since World War II. For this week’s Please Explain, we are discussing crisis migration: how we got to where we are today; and whether or not we can predict what might happen to the hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Europe today. We are talking to Demetrios Papademetriou, Distinguished Senior Fellow and President Emeritus of the Migration Policy Institute, and David Miliband, President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee.
