The Puerto Rican singer known as iLe began her career as the female voice in her brothers’ all-conquering hip hop duo, Calle 13. But when she set out on her own, it was with an album full of classic Latin ballads and boleros. In subsequent records she’s explored electroacoustic music, protest songs, and dance music both old and new from around Latin America. She’s won a Grammy. She’s collaborated with streaming sensation Bad Bunny and the Mexican star Natalia Lafourcade. iLe plays a free show on Aug. 18 at Prospect Park as part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn series.
